Picturing the Other

This assignment was really challenging. I used it as a way to practice asking people I didn’t know to take a picture of them. One man that I found very interesting told me the FBI and CIA were taking his picture and he was getting sick of it.
Unfortunately I think that the more time you have around the subject the better. If I could start a conversation and develop some trust before I asked for somebody’s picture it usually helped.

Jimmy

This was a very awkward moment. He said I could take his picture but I was uncomfortable and he was uncomfortable. The other shot I took was straight on and very boring.

Paul Soldner

This is a picture of a very remarkable sculptor. He was a pompous prick, but very well-known in the ceramics world. Unfortunately this is the only good shot I got.
